About L J

The Full Story

LJ began working toward her dream of being a counselor long ago. She earned her BA in Psychology in 1976. Her path then diverged into creating a family, and then becoming an elementary school/middle school teacher with a BA in Education in 1988. As a teacher for nearly 30 years, LJ enjoyed teaching Math and Science but always had the Counseling idea in the back of her mind. In 2019, she went back to school and earned her Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. She then became a licensed counselor. LJ has worked at 7 Arrows Recovery Residential Treatment Center. During this time she found that she loved working with the clients and developed the skills needed to work in the areas of trauma and addiction.  LJ currently works  as a counselor two days a month at a local school. LJ also works as a counselor three days a week at Mesa Verde Counseling in Sierra Vista, AZ.

LJ was an officer in the US Navy Reserve for 30 years. This career involved working with a wide variety of people and jobs. It included travel and work from the West Coast to the East Coast, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Hawaii. This career was an excellent preparation for development of people skills with diverse populations.

When she is not working, LJ enjoys spending time with family, which includes eight grandchildren ages 6-24. Motorcycling and mountain biking are her favorite “self-care” activities. She has lived in Cochise County since 1988.
